New Castle: Want To Get The True Holiday Vibes? Visit New Castle
I went to New Castle, situated in Australia. The best time to visit this city is December as it is summer there and one can do a beach crawl from Newcastle to Merewether. When I went there, I first visited the Bogey Hole which was a convict built rock pool within King Edward Park. From there, I got a coffee at One Penny Black on Hunter Street. While strolling through the New Castle Beach, I grabbed a bite at Good Brother Espresso. One may even visit Café Mason nearby.
Places to visit
My favorite was Bar Beach, which was an easy walk from the cafes and shops on Darby Street. The city’s best view can be obtained from the bell tower of Christ Church Cathedral. It’s a steep climb. One can buy authentic, local souvenirs at the Hunter Street Mall, most of which artists and designers run shops.
I even visited the New Castle Museum that gives the city’s narrative to life, including the stories that precede European settlement. It is a very walkable city, and the buses are free during the day in the city center. The best place to spend time outdoors is King Edward Park.
A friend of mine took me to the Longworth House for a fancy night out that offered amazing cocktails and wine at Bar Petite. We headed to dinner at Bacchus; a Methodist mission turned theater turned restaurant. I even got to visit the Hunter Valley wine country in Pokolbin, just outside the city. We also went on a dolphin cruise from Port Stephens.
Though it is an industrial city, its creativity is enchanting, and the best outdoor market is the Olive Tree Market. I went to Bathers Way, that follows the coastline from Nobby ’s beach to Merewether.
